Loners describes a unique group of solitary children who were unable to adapt to the social and educational demands of school life. Wolff discusses the nature and origins of their difficulties and compares them with autism, Asperger's syndrome and schizoid/schizotypal personality disorders. The book is clearly written and although intended for an audience with some knowledge and language difficulties would be accessible to a person coming to the topic for the first time....I would recommend it to any practitioner who wanted to find out more about the relationship between speech, language and communication difficulties and the development of literacy.
