Energy and Climate - Science for Citizens in the Age of Global Warming (Audiobook)Energy and Climate - Science for Citizens in the Age of Global Warming (Audiobook)

While some argue that there's no "proof" that humans are warming the planet, certainly scientists across the world disagree. In his course "Energy and Climate: Science for Citizens of Global Warming," Professor Richard Wolfson provides the following arguments supporting serious global warming: 1. CO2 (carbon dioxide) has increased by over 30% since 1750. 2. CO2 is the dominant contributor to the greenhouse effect though other gases (methane, nitrous oxide, and CFCs) also contribute. 3. The US is responsible for about 20% of global CO2 emissions with a per capita emission of 20 tons per year. 4. By 2100, the atmospheric CO2 concentration is expected to double the pre-industrial level.

Emotional Genius: How Your Emotions Can Save Your LifeEmotional Genius: How Your Emotions Can Save Your Life

All of your emotions - especially your strongest and most difficult feelings - are storehouses of unlimited energy and astounding wisdom. For instance, your rage can give you superhuman strength, your fear can save you from certain death, and your shame and depression can bring you to a complete (and often necessary) halt. The Lucent Library of Science and Technology - Energy AlternativesThe Lucent Library of Science and Technology - Energy Alternatives

Energy drives all life and is a key component to how humanity works, lives, and sustains itself. Due to the depletion of existing energy sources and the damage being done to the earth's ecosystems, renewable, non-polluting energy sources such as solar, wind, and geothermal power, are being developed and implemented.

Renzo Piano: Architecture MonographRenzo Piano: Architecture Monograph

The Italian master explains why he always insists on exhaustive research and discusses ecological issues such as roof energy accumulation capacity. His knowledge of the structural strengths of various natural fibres and thermal insulation goes hand in hand with his scheme of avoiding non-renewable energy sources.
Intelligent buildings, methods of recycling, understanding of topography all fit into the overall architectural design. The most advanced building systems are also inexpensive in forming ecological spaces.

Academic Leadership Day by Day: Small Steps That Lead to Great SuccessAcademic Leadership Day by Day: Small Steps That Lead to Great Success

It can seem at times as though all of academic administration today is focused only on the need for continual change and the endless pursuit of "the big idea." But most academic leaders, from department chairs and program directors through university presidents and chancellors, are far too busy helping their institutions flourish for them to divert critical energy and resources to yet another untried theory or management principle.
