Things fall apart

Things Fall Apart is a 1958 English-language novel. It is a staple book in schools throughout Africa and widely read and studied in English-speaking countries around the world. It is seen as the archetypal modern African novel  in English, and one of the first African novels written in English to receive global critical acclaim. The title of the novel comes from William Butler Yeats's poem "The Second Coming".

Story of General Dann and Mara's Daughter, Griot and the Snow Dog: A Novel

This sequel to Lessing's futuristic novel Mara and Dann continues the saga of Dann, the refugee boy prince of the Mahondi, who searched with his older sister Mara for habitable land on a planet Earth beset by a new ice age. Several characters from that novel reappear, including Griot, a soldier who served under Dann, but Mara has died in childbirth. Grief deafens General Dann to the pleas of those who believe he alone can save civilization from the warring chaos of displaced populations.

Revenge of the Spellmans: A Novel

This is the third time I've visited the world of the Spellmans and I'll definitely be back. I'm not sure I'll be back via the Kindle since the footnotes (and there's a lot of them) are a pain to use on the Kindle. You have to place the cursor on the note, hit the okay button, get taken to the note, read it, and then hit the back button to be taken to the story. That's okay if there's only one note per screen, but on one screen, there were 3 notes and it's just too much of a hassle to switch back and forth (navigation of the the Kindle's cursor is not the easiest task).

The Cay

The Cay is a children's novel written by Theodore Taylor. The story is based on a true incident recounted to the author  wherein an eleven year-old survivor of a torpedo attack later died alone on a raft. The novel was published in 1969 and dedicated to Martin Luther King, Jr. The story is primarily about the relationship between Phillip and Timothy, and Phillip’s efforts for survival on the cay.
