The Know-It-All: One Man's Humble Quest to Become the Smartest Person in the World
This book came highly recommended, but I was skeptical. Nerdy pointless trivia? Becoming the "smartest person in the world" by reading Brittanica? I was even skeptical about the format--an alphabetical tour through the encyclopedia, with starting entries on a-ak, a capella, Aachen, Aaron, etc. Fortunately, Jacobs is a very talented narrator, and he had me hooked in the first few pages. His method of detailing the journey from A to Z was very effective.
Approaches and Methods in Language Teaching 2nd Edition
This second edition is an extensive revision of the first edition of this successful text. Like the first edition, the second edition surveys the major approaches and methods in language teaching, such as grammar translation, audiolingualism, communicative language teaching, and the natural approach.
This book is consistent with the mission of The Legal Grind to improve access to the legal system to all people. In cutting through the mysticism of legalese, this book helps ordinary folks better understand their legal rights. This book should be useful to everyone, including first year law students, who are trying to better understand “the language of the law.”
Pediatric Practice EndocrinologyComplete how-to-guidance on the evaluation and treatment of endocrine disorders in children
4 STAR DOODY'S REVIEW! "This is a truly useful book for all physicians who care for young patients with endocrine disorders....In creating a how-to guide while breaking down the molecular mechanisms of endocrine diseases, it fills a gap in currently available pediatric endocrinology literature....This excellent book makes it possible for busy first-year endocrinology fellows to gain a broad understanding of the pertinent topics in this field."--Doody's Review Service
