The Otto Dunkel Memorial Problem BookThe Otto Dunkel Memorial Problem Book

When Professor Otto Dunkel died in 1951, it was found that he left a bequest to the Mathematical Association of America. After deliberation, the Board of Governors of the Association voted that the income from Professor Dunkel's bequest be spent in publishing an Otto Dunkel Memorial Problem Book, based upon the better problems that have appeared over the years in the American Mathematical Monthly.

Mathematical Problems and Puzzles from the Polish Mathematical OlympiadsMathematical Problems and Puzzles from the Polish Mathematical Olympiads

This book is a translation of the second Polish edition, published in 1960, in which various improvements were made. The contest for secondary school pupils known as the Mathematical Olympiad has been held in Poland every year since 1949/50. The problems set at the contests require only a knowledge of school mathematics (i.e., elementary algebra, geometry and trigonometry) but are on the whole more difficult than the usual school exercises.

Disquisitiones ArithmeticaeDisquisitiones Arithmeticae

English translation of standard mathematical work on theory of numbers, first published in Latin in 1801. "Among the greatest mathematical treatises of all fields and periods."--Asger Aaboe.
Summary: Great Classic Math Book from a Master
This is an incredible work, painstakingly and lovingly translated by someone with more patience than I might ever have. Thank God there are people out there who can do such tedious things so we can all enjoy these great works in English.

Math Through the Ages: A Gentle History for Teachers and Others

Where did math come from? Who thought up all those algebra symbols, and why? What's the story behind ...negative numbers? ...the metric system? ...quadratic equations? ...sine and cosine? The 25 independent sketches in "Math through the Ages" answer these questions and many others in an informal, easygoing style that's accessible to teachers, students, and anyone who is curious about the history of mathematical ideas. Each sketch contains Questions and Projects to help you learn more about its topic and to see how its main ideas fit into the bigger picture of history.

Creative MathematicsCreative Mathematics

Professor H. S. Wall (1902-1971) developed Creative Mathematics over a period of many years of working with students at the University of Texas, Austin. His aim was to lead students to develop their mathematical abilities, to help them learn the art of mathematics, and to teach them to create mathematical ideas. This book, according to Wall, 'is not a compendium of mathematical facts and inventions to be read over as a connoisseur of art looks over paintings. It is, instead, a sketchbook in which readers try their hands at mathematical discovery.
