An English interpretation of the Holy Quran
Anyone with an interest in understanding true Islam, but unable to read Arabic, should try this book. The English translations come very close to the original Arabic text, and are presented side by side. If you are considering conversion to Islam or merely interested in learning more about this often maligned, yet fascinating and increasing important religion, this is an excellent resource. My only disappointment was that the beautiful Arabic calligraphy that so richly adorns the original Quran is not present. On the upside, also not present is the media hype and propaganda that so often, in recent years, tries to blacken the eye of Islam.

Lloyd Gartner provides a vivid description of the changing fortunes of the Jewish communication of the old world- Europe, the Middle -East, and beyond - and their gradual expansion into the New world of Americas. The book begins in 1650, when the Jewish population had fallen to roughly 1.25 million, less than one-sixth of its peak at the starts of the Christian era. Gartner leads us through the Enlightenment, the French Revolution, and into Emancipation, the dark shadows of anti-Semitism, and the Second World War, bringing us up to the present with Zionism and the founding of Israel.
America’s Military Adversaries: From Colonial Times to the Present
This work chronicles the lives and accomplishments of over 200 enemies who have fought, plotted, spied on, and in some instances defeated U.S. forces over the past three centuries. In this new encyclopedia, readers can explore the goals, the tactics, and the life stories of America's greatest enemies. This book is the first to focus on America's talented enemies—the generals, admirals, Indian chiefs and warriors, submarine captains, fighter pilots, and spies who opposed the United States with military force or other means. Often these military leaders were among the best minds of their times.
